Since modern-day Americans have reverted to a pre-Enlightenment mindset, the political atmosphere in New England hasn't really changed that much! Long live our Maine-man-in-chief, King George III. Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! George H. W. Bush was president when the feds gunned down Sammy & Vicki Weaver. The GOP was in control of the initial coverup, which was then carried on devotedly by liberal Democrats for years. As for Republicans being less likely to pillage at home - that may have been true in Calvin Coolidge's time.... It is always amusing to see a lawyer gone idealistic.

To which I respond (and get bonus points for the first comment) so: "Oh, you big kidder you! For a Liberal, no force is 'excessive' when it's being used in a Just Cause! These were Certified Right Wing-nuts Who Were Defying The State. The survivors should be thankful that their house wasn't burnt down with them still inside!" That being the typical thinking on either wing of the Warbard Party when someone gets in their way. I think I'm going to adopt a motto of "Elect Republicans - tney're marginally less likely to pillage and murder at home."
