So let’s give democracy a try and limit it to the constitution.

That's an echo heard 'round Amerika but
hasn't that already been tried?

If we're attempting to protect ourselves
from the psychos (that government
naturally attracts) with a piece of
paper why not try this?

I don't worry about royalties, though I might put up a tip jar some day.

My theory is that a karmic investment pays returns enough to not worry overmuch about money, but your own comfort level with such an approach may be less and determined by your own circumstances.

In any case, I used to argue from a libertarian/conservative perspective, and it was always defeatist and it has always been, since Nock, and since Henry George really. Since ever.

The reason is, people don't want that. I mean, you know it too. So let's give democracy a try and limit it to the constitution. If amendments need to be made, they should be made, but we should not prefer to let the Republicans hold or recover power.

Hope I didn't write too much, it was starting to feel like a post so I'll stop for now.

Even more important, it is difficult to collect royalties from posterity.

Jim, the problem as I see it, you are trying to sell the idea of limited republican government in a time when the republicans have discredited themselves politically.

You need a new paradigm to talk, if you want to be listened to. You could try to do what Albert Jay Nock did, and write for posterity, but in this case and in this time there is no peaceful alternative to limited democratic government. Note the difference.
