I biked around the September 2005 antiwar march, when the photo above was taken. There were sawhorses all over the place, so it wasn’t really clear which streets were open and which weren’t. As I was coming down 17th St. by the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House, I was perplexed when I saw a fat cop hieing himself into the middle of the street as he raised his five foot wooden pole over his head. I noticed that he appeared to be staring at me intently and realized that he was getting ready to take a swing at me. Some other cop grunted something about how the street was closed, and I veered off and left ‘em in the dust.

There were masses of demonstrators on the other side of the White House. But the cops were not aggressive there because of the pervasive camcoms to capture their public service.

I also make fun of members of the species “homo moronus” who think that “just doing his job” or “just following orders” (it sounds better in the original German) somehow excuses subhuman and barbaric conduct.

And oh, “ahahahahah steve?” Calling people “aholes” because you disagree with them does not strike me as the epitome of maturity. You’re setting a very bad example for those you’re pretending to chastise. Perhaps you’d best look to that log in your own eye before you worry about the mote in someone else’s.

If the goal is to bring the silent majority into the anti-war movement, it’s not going to be achieved by people carrying pictures of Kim Jong-Il — even if they keep them hidden in their wallets.

Note. I’m not an Answer supporter. Quite frankly they annoy me. But the bit about hiding the Kim Jung Il photo in the wallet is just out and out propaganda.

And it’s almost as bad as the kiddy porn photos Corn has in his wallet. What proof do I have? Well, none. But if Corn doesn’t need proof, why do I need it?

1.) Pro War Vichy liberals (like David Corn and Todd Gitlin) already have their talking points written. Answer has off topic speakers yada yada ad naseum. They push this after every anti-war rally however big or small.

2.) Paul would take the edge off these attacks and refocus the debate on the question “is an alliance between the anti-imperialist right and left a reality”.

If I were running Answer, I’d schedule Paul right after Kucinich. But I don’t think they’re that pragmatic.
