Perhaps presidents have come to view themselves as a modern day Zeus able to hurl down lightning bolts on disfavored populations anywhere on the globe (incapable of military retaliation). I suspect that it is simply a manifestation of the righteous might mentality held by most Americans. If tens of thousands of innocents die while the country is reduced to rubble it is always done always with unquestionably noble intentions or to gift their unruly masses a better way of life.

Dirk, lucky for us that everything changed on November 4.

Now we are all free again.

At least until further orders.

The office of the President is now not only exempt from the requirements of international and domestic law, it is exempt from Constitutional mandate and the very notion of the Separation of Powers. We have , in fact...a dictator and this dictator is commander in chief of a vast security
and military edifice. this insures that the Congress remains substantially reduced from Constitutional intentions. There has been, in effect, a counter-revolution and we rely upon the quality of the occupant to determine whether or not this is a bad thing. Something about the last several years leads me to believe it is.

Up until a few months ago, folks on the left would have said they agree with you. As January 20 gets closer the number of leftists who will even pretend to agree will shrink down to nearly zero.

I hope they do some warmup exercises first. Suddenly backpedaling without warmup can lead to pulled muscles.
