Dirk, you're right - but my hunch is that the Obama folks have not reached the same astute conclusions.

The Mayfield incident should require that an invoice for the cost of the settlement be sent to the former AG and the President. One also has to remeber the recent highly publicized Newburgh case where a suspect character employed by the government trolled about the mosques of the northeast in search of some knuckleheads dumb enough to take the bait. Now, we have Homeland Security Director Napolitano raising the old gem of neighborhood
Intelligence Operatives.

Funny how ones real security and ones freedoms decline at a rate equal to the increase in the Federal Government's Declarations of Homeland
Security.

The thicket of legal lapses and compromise surrounding our prosecution of individuals caught up in our so called "War on Terror" should make for a fine primer on "what not to do" for those studying our various and sundry manias many years from now. What they will really marvel at is how the Feds beg not to be thrown into the Briar Patch they love to skulk about in , ever searching for another tar baby to embrace.
