Happy ‘V for Vendetta’ Day!

It is appropriate that ‘V for Vendetta’ Day would fall on the eve of one of the most depressing presidential choices of the new Millennium. “Remember, remember, the fifth of November….”

The theme of V for Vendetta was pegged to Guy Fawkes Day, which marked the attempt in 1604 of Catholic conspirators to blow up the English parliament. It was good that that plot was thwarted. Unfortunately, in the subsequent centuries, government itself has become a god.

If you haven’t watched the movie yet, it could be the perfect tonic for Election Eve – or Election Day. The movie beautifully captures how the war on terror provides a recipe for browbeating people into submission.

Here’s a photo I snapped of a V for Vendetta enthusiast at the Small Press Expo cartoonist show in Bethesda: –
